A German-made gin with English ancestry, Monkey 47 takes its name from the year its maker retired and the 47 botanicals it's made. In 1947 Commander Montgomery Colins was posted to Germany with the air force. When he retired, he settled in the Black Forest region. Although living in Germany, he still missed all things English, particularly gin, so he decided to make his own.
